Surface Pro 3 Docking Station now on sale in Canada & the United States

Many of you have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Surface Pro 3 Docking Station—that wait is now over. The new Docking Station is available for purchase starting today at retail stores, online, and through authorized resellers in Canada and the United States.

As you probably already know, Surface Pro 3 is an incredibly powerful tablet that was designed to replace your laptop. But when you pair it with a Docking Station, it really puts Surface Pro 3 in a league of its own because it also allows this powerful tablet to replace your desktop PC! Just slide your Surface Pro 3 into Docking Station, close the wings, and you’ll have instant access to all of your essential PC accessories—it’s perfect for the home or office.

Surface Pro 3 Docking Station

I personally use it at work to connect to my 4K external monitor, ergonomic keyboard and mouse, printer, external hard-drive, and multimedia speakers. And I still have open ports for additional accessories. The ports are blazing fast too. Four of the six USB connections are USB 3.0 ports, which are up to 10X faster than USB 2.0—this is awesome when I’m transferring large files or photos to my hard-drive, or when I do my weekly PC backup. Plus, it has Gigabit Ethernet so my network connection is like a fire hose. Docking Station charges my Surface too, so I’m always ready to grab it and go – whether I need to head to my next meeting or out of the office.

Dock Multi-Monitor 2

In my last post, I mentioned that using external monitors is a great way to boost your productivity—the extra screen real estate allows you to work on multiple documents or programs at the same time. I briefly covered a couple of easy ways to connect two external monitors to your Docking Station and said I’d provide more options in my next post. As promised, the table below provides four different ways to connect multiple monitors to your device either through your Docking Station, or to your Surface Pro 3 directly.

I hope that the information above has given you some helpful guidance on choosing the best multi-monitor setup for your work or home office. Also, remember that the Docking Station will be available in additional markets where Surface Pro 3 is sold in September.

Happy “desktop” computing!
